Hair Academy

Plush Hair Academy is located at No 1 Tullow Street in the centre of Carlow Town. We provide a range of hairdressing courses including the Diploma course, Refresher and Sampler courses. All of our teachers are highly qualified and we are committed to providing superior levels of training. We run our Academy in conjunction with our Salon which is located just around the corner. This offers students a true insight of the Industry and a fantastic opportunity to gain experience.

Diploma

This 12 month course is designed for the student who wishes to become a Hairdresser. Students will be equipped with a professional competency in Hairdressing and on successful completion of the course, will have the knowledge and skills required to perform all areas of hairdressing including blowdrying, cutting, styling, colouring, highlighting, upstyling and applying extensions.

We also cover other vital skills required when seeking employment or opening your own salon including customer care, reception duties, product knowledge and retail sales. These skills are often overlooked but at our academy, all of these skills are incorporated into the day to day learning.

Time Commitment: Full Time Tuesday- Friday

Learners are assessed by a series of assessments including written knowledge, research and practical observation.

No previous experience required. Leaving certificate not required but students must be over 16.

Refresher Courses

We offer a broad range of courses which are suitable for 2nd or 3rd year students who need a little extra training in a particular skill to boost confidence and allow the student to move onto the salon floor with confidence. These courses also suit the Hairdresser who has been out of the industry for a while and is seeking to update their skills.

Depending on the skill or level of training required, these courses vary in duration and cost. Please contact us for further information.

Note: Some of the part time courses can be carried out in conjunction with your employment commitments.

Sampler Courses

Our sampler courses are for the duration of 2 week and are ideal for the student who is unsure if hairdressing is for them. This course will include a sample of the basic hairdressing skills with some time being spent in our salon to give the student a true insight into the work of a hairdresser.
